The Odin Project- Why Everyone Must make use of the opensource resources available through this platform
The Odin Project is a free online curriculum for learning web development with ruby on rails and Javascript. In fact, I keep coming back to the Odin project time and again whenever I need to brush up on my skills.
It was founded in 2013 by Erik Trautman. It is now sponsored by Thinkful, a technology school that provides 1-on-1 learning through its network of industry experts, hiring partners, and an online platform to deliver a structured and flexible education.
Since the beginning, the Odin project has helped many students to get hired as developers. It has assisted a large number of people and equipped them to work on their own personal projects. Odin Project provides a free open-source coding curriculum that can be taken online entirely and is free. They believe in the principle that education must be free for everyone, much like All Father’s idealogy.
The self-paced curriculum makes use of online tutorials, blogs, videos, and other learning sources. People around the globe can learn and build dozens of quality projects, including basic scripts, full programs, games, and websites.
In addition to lessons on Git, databases, NodeJS, and more the program also offers job-seeking resources. Videos, blogs, and readings equip learners to build resumes and portfolios. In addition to traditional course materials, such as filmed lectures, readings, many MOOC’s provide interactive courses with user forums or social media discussions to support community interactions among students and professors. The Emergence of MOOC’s
2012 became the year of MOOC as several well-financed providers associated with top universities emerged including Coursera, Udacity, and edX. MOOC’s are regarded by many as an important tool to widen access to higher education (HE) for millions of people, especially for students in developing countries, and ultimately enhance their quality of life.
The Odin project and other MOOC courses can be regarded as contributors to the democratization of education and skill learning, not only locally or regionally but globally as well.
